Gary began dancing at the age of 10 in Dufftown, Scotland with Jessie Stuart as his teacher and gained his full teaching certificate in 2013. Gary has taught at various weekend and day schools in Scotland, Europe, North America and Australia including RSCDS Summer School, the 40th anniversary weekend of the Stockholm Branch, TAC Summer Schools in Vancouver and Halifax and the Sydney Winter School. He is currently the Chair of the RSCDS. Gary loves a dance with a birl, enjoys dancing strathspeys (especially ones with a poussette) and thinks the most important thing about Scottish country dancing is having fun! By day Gary works for the University of Aberdeen, is married to Joanna and has 2 children, Bess and Flora.

Jeanne started Scottish Country Dancing at Bryn Mawr College in the Delaware Valley Branch, PA, then continued dancing in Portland, OR, and now San Diego, CA. It has been her pleasure to teach a dedicated beginner’s class since earning teaching certification in 2012, and her deepest satisfaction comes from the core group who return every season to welcome new dancers. Jeanne has been fortunate to teach at workshops around the US and Canada, including the Asilomar weekend, Scottish Weekend, Pinewoods, and TAC Summer School.

When not dancing Jeanne works as a medicinal chemist in drug discovery. It’s a challenging and rewarding pursuit.

Jeanne loves sharing the joy of this dance form. It is her hope to make dancing approachable, fun, and elegant – “to make the music visible.” She is honored to join you in celebrating our music, our dancing, and the rich and varied community of SCD!
